Molteni&C Gio Ponti D.153.1 Armchair
The D.153.1 armchair is a project by Gio Ponti from 1953, reissued by Molteni & C to celebrate the master in the Heritage Collection in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives. Designed for his personal home in Via Dezza in Milan, Gio Ponti's armchair has a satin brass structure, two-tone leather or Rubelli “Dotted” fabric upholstery as well as fabrics from the Molteni & C range.
The dotted fabric, whose design by Gio Ponti dates back to 1934, reinterprets the centuries-old technique of velvet, updating it with contemporary patterns, such as the tight sequences of staggered stamps in color gradations.
